Frequently asked questions

How can I package and ship my watch?

At WatchCheck, we value the careful packing and shipping needed to protect your timepiece.

Once you have received your shipping kit, you will find a protected box specially designed for your watch. Please follow these steps as outlined in the brochure included in your kit:

  1. Secure Your Watch: Open the box, remove the top foam layer, and place your watch around the pillow at the base, positioning it as if on your wrist. Add the foam padding on top for added protection.
  2. Prepare the Shipping Kit: Place only your watch in the box - no paperwork or accessories. Insert the inner box into the outer shipping kit, and then into the FedEx box provided.
  3. Seal and Ship: The FedEx box is pre-labeled. Seal it securely on both ends, ensuring no additional markings.

Schedule a FedEx doorstep pickup using the link sent to your email or by scanning the QR code on the back of the brochure provided. For security, do not leave your package unattended. Alternatively, you may drop it off at any FedEx Authorized Ship Center or FedEx Office Print & Ship Center - avoid FedEx drop boxes and always request a receipt for your records.

Your watch is fully insured throughout its service journey. Coverage levels depend solely on the initial shipping date, unaffected by the arrival day. Please see the schedule below for shipping dates and coverage amounts. For full details, visit our Insurance Policy page.

  • Monday - Thursday: Coverage up to $150,000
  • Friday - Saturday & Holidays (and prior day): Coverage up to $35,000

With Full Service, you can rest assured with a two-year warranty starting from your watch's service date. For full details, visit our Warranty Policy page.

For shipping a watch valued at over $150,000 or for inquiries related to shipping, please contact our Concierge team for further assistance.

What services do you offer?

Our services include Full Service, Case Restoration, and specialty services. We are committed to resolving any issue your watch may have!

During a Full Service, your watch undergoes meticulous disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly. This includes the replacement of worn parts and precise calibration for optimal performance.

During a Case Restoration, the case and bracelet/clasp of the watch are cleaned carefully and then restored to match its original appearance through a tasteful polish.

All services include an extensive quality control process by our expert team. Full Services also feature a multi-day timekeeping review to make sure your timepiece is functioning properly.

Additionally, we offer specialty services such as dent/ding repair, crystal replacement, and more.

How long does a service take?

Modern mechanical watches undergoing a Full Service typically require 8 to 12 weeks, after arrival at service center. Modern quartz watches typically require 5 weeks on average for a Full Service.

Adding a Case Restoration to your Full Service will have negligible impact on timing, as we complete the Case Restoration concurrently while the movement is being serviced.

Vintage watches typically require 10 to 14 weeks, after arrival at service center.

Vintage watches may take longer to service due to worn, modified, or hard to find parts, requiring careful evaluation, sourcing, and restoration beyond a standard overhaul.

A Case Restoration, without an accompanying service, typically takes 4 weeks on average should additional parts not be needed.

Vintage watches may require additional time due to the sourcing of rare genuine components, extended quality control, and the inherent complexity of vintage timepieces.

Please note that these timelines are estimates which could be impacted by a number of factors outside of our control including but not limited to: parts availability, shipping timelines, estimate approval timelines, and other extenuating circumstances.

With that being said, it is always our priority to complete your service within a timely manner while making sure you receive an exceptional result.

How is my watch protected?

We ensure the best and safest service with insurance coverage up to $1,000,000 at every stage of the process.

Your watch is protected by comprehensive insurance and protective safeguards from the second you hand it to our courier partner until the moment it returns home.

Your watch is covered for fair market value up to $1,000,000. During shipping, our specially designed, impact-tested and reinforced shipping kit will protect your watch from bumps or bangs along its journey. While your watch is being serviced, it will be carefully overseen by our expert servicing team, with a track record spanning centuries, in our highly secure and discreet facility within the U.S.
